Dublin-born Seán McGirr graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2014, with a Master of Arts in Fashion.

He began his career at Burberry and Vogue Hommes Japan. Shortly after, he teamed up with Uniqlo's creative offices in Tokyo and Paris where he worked on men's collections guided by Christophe Lemaire. 

2018 saw him appointed Women's Designer for Dries Van Noten in Antwerp (Belgium). In 2020, he headed up the men's collections at JW Anderson before adding womenswear to his responsibilities as the brand's Head of Ready-to-Wear.

He became Alexander McQueen's Creative Director in October 2023.
